Shark has expanded its cordless vacuum range with a new model aimed at households that need strong cleaning performance without the bulk of a larger machine.
The latest addition, called the PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System, weighs around 3.5kg and is designed to suit homes where storage space is limited but cleaning demands remain high. Rather than cutting back on features, the new release focuses on delivering the same core technology found in the broader PowerDetect line-up in a more compact form.
At the centre of the vacuum is Shark’s PowerDetect Intelligence system, which adjusts performance automatically depending on the cleaning environment. Instead of manually changing modes, the machine detects conditions such as dirt levels and floor types and responds accordingly.
Several built-in functions support this approach. Dirt Detect increases suction in areas with heavier debris, while Edge Detect boosts power along walls and corners where dust tends to accumulate. A lighting feature known as Reveal Technology uses angled illumination to highlight fine dust on hard floors, making it easier to spot what needs to be cleaned.
The vacuum also adapts to different surfaces using Floor Detect, which modifies the brushroll speed when moving between carpets and hard flooring. Another feature, Direction Detect, allows debris to be collected when the vacuum is pushed forward and pulled back, reducing the need for repeated passes.
Cleaning performance is supported by a TurboPro Detect brushroll that helps lift embedded dirt, along with a self-cleaning design that minimises hair tangling. Shark has also included a flexible wand that can bend to reach under furniture and into tighter spaces.
The model comes with a dock that automatically empties the dustbin and can store up to 45 days of debris, reducing how often users need to handle waste.
